About this Event

What are B Corps™?

B Corps represent a movement of entrepreneurs who are proud of their companies’ positive impact, whether it’s improving the livelihoods of their workers, strengthening their community ties, or revolutionizing current green practices! The common thread linking Certified B Corporations®, such as Toronto-based Propeller Coffee Co. and Gladstone Hotel, is that they define success as more than money – and they measure it using the B Corp assessment.

The workshop

Using a free, confidential online tool based on the B Corp assessment, you will learn how to develop novel metrics of success by measuring your company’s current impact in the following areas:

  • governance
  • employees
  • community
  • environment

This workshop is intended for purpose driven entrepreneurs or employees of purpose driven businesses who are interested in managing their impact through the B Impact Assessment. Each attendee will work in the B Impact Assessment as part of the workshop so bring a laptop or tablet suitable for this portion of the workshop. It will be ideal for actively profitable businesses that have been running and operating for a minimum of 2 years._Speaker’s Bio_Carla Heim is Senior Advisor, Purpose Entrepreneurship at the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), the only bank in Canada dedicated exclusively to entrepreneurs. She works to help grow the national movement of certified Beneficial corporations (B Corps). She also helps BDC’s efforts to support more women entrepreneurs.

Carla has thirty-plus years’ experience in managing, advising and financing businesses. She brings rich, hands-on expertise and insights to help these socially innovative and women entrepreneurs succeed.
